For years, I sought to reassure elderly patients with a tongue-in-cheek motto. When the way forward felt confusing, I would say, “Don’t worry, love. I know everything, and what I don’t know I’m not afraid to make up.” A little levity goes a long way in this business.

The more advanced I become in my nursing practice, the more I realize what I don’t know. Not to mention that when it comes to brain disease, the science is ever changing as we gain new understanding. So while there’s a great deal that I don’t know, I promise you, the reader, not to make things up.

The materials you will find on this site have been researched and vetted before they are shared here. While there’s plenty that I don’t know, decades of clinical practice have taught me a few things I’m glad to share. And for the things I don’t know, there’s good old Google Scholar, an amazing search engine that cites scientific sources, i.e. the medical literature. There is a plethora of “knowledge” being shared online, especially in social media. Consider this my promise to only bring you Knowledge with a capital K.
